Admissions

Admissions Criteria

We accept children from 9 months to 5 years old, and we are committed to the principal of equal opportunities. We are an all-inclusive practice and do our best to facilitate children with varying needs. If your child has additional needs, please feel free to discuss these on your show around visit.

FREE Entitlement to Nursery Education

We are pleased to confirm that we offer the Government Funded Free Early Education Entitlement. Under this initiative, from the term after your child’s third birthday, (January – April or May to August or September to December) your child is entitled to 190 funded hours each term. We spread this out over the full four months each term.

Note that funding is paid directly to the nursery and not to parents themselves so you do not need to apply. We will make an application directly to Royal Greenwich on your behalf and your nursery fees will be reduced to reflect the funding. For more information or to find out if your child is eligible for this scheme, please contact us here.

We welcome visits by prospective parents throughout the year, and visiting days can be arranged on any day in the week. However please note that we only accept visitors by prior appointment and between the hours of 10am and 11am. Unfortunately, we cannot see you outside these core hours, so please ensure that you are available to book an appointment at these times. Please call our office on 020 8858 6222 and arrange a "show around visit". When you arrive we will outline the nursery day, show you our facilities, and answer any questions which you may have. If possible we will also give you an idea of how long our waiting list is. If you are happy with our nursery (and have already been on a "show around visit") the next thing you need to do is complete our Registration Form and pay a small Registration Fee which is non-refundable. At this point your child will be placed on our waiting list, and when a place becomes available you will be notified immediately.

Waiting List

Kids & Co is a very popular day nursery and because of this it is necessary for us to keep a waiting list.

To register your child on the waiting list there is a short form to complete and a £15 non-refundable fee. When your child starts will be determined by the following criteria:

  • Your child’s age and date of birth
  • Whether you have a sibling that has/does attend
  • Which days of the week you require
  • Where they are in the queue and how long your child has been waiting

If you are next on the waiting list and we do not have your specified days available, we will offer you an alternative until your days are available.

Kids and Co is registered with the ICO. (Information Commissioner's Office) Registration number: Z2166937

Accepting an offer of a place

If you child has been offered a place at our nursery and you wish to accept, you will need to sign and complete our Admissions Form and pay a deposit, together with the first month’s nursery fee in full.

A £450 deposit is paid on joining the nursery (this is refunded when your child leaves with two months’ notice). However, if you withdraw the place before your child starts you will lose the deposit.

Please note that if you decide NOT to take up the place after paying the deposit, then you will lose the deposit. If you wish to pay by cheque, please make it payable to KIDS AND CO DAY NURSERY and write your name and address on the back. Alternatively, you can pay the deposit and the first month’s fee by bank transfer. We have a separate form for this so please ask for a copy if you prefer to pay by this method.

Admissions Form Checklist

In addition to completing your Admissions Form and providing payment in advance, you will also need to provide us with the following documents:

A copy of your child's birth certificate

Copies of two different utility bills (no more than three months old), so we can verify your address.

If everything is in order, we will deal with your application as swiftly as possible, to ensure that your child joins our nursery without delay.

Attendance Criteria

Regular Attendance and Notifying Absence

Once your child has a place at our nursery, we will expect to see them every day in accordance with the nursery arrangements you have specifically agreed. This could be for a minimum of two days per week, up to a maximum of five days per week if your child is with us full-time. However if your child is sick, or you are going away on a family holiday, you must inform us as soon as possible, so we know when NOT TO EXPECT your child at our nursery. We will make a note on our attendance register, and get back to you if there are any problems. It is very important that you contact us about sickness or family holidays, and we would be most grateful for your full co-operation.

Requesting Extra Days at Short Notice

We understand that at certain times, parents need flexible day care arrangements. We are more than happy to help in this respect, so please just ask. However please note that additional fees are levied when parents need us to look after their children on days other than those otherwise agreed. Please contact us for more information

Notice of Withdrawal or Reduced Attendance

If you wish to withdraw your child from our nursery, or reduce their number of days in attendance, you will need to give us two calendar months notice in advance. Notice must be given in writing, and sent to the Office Administrator. Where notice has been served, and your child will be leaving our care, your child will be expected to leave at the end of the second month, and your nursery fees will be calculated accordingly. Note that if your child leaves BEFORE the official notice date, a full month's fee is still required and must be paid. If you decide not to take up a place you will lose the complete deposit.

Leaving Reports

When your child leaves our nursery to move to their next school, you will be given a leaving report which summaries your child's achievements and level of attainment. A copy of this report will also be sent to your child's new school, along with any other relevant information relating to your child's educational or welfare needs. If you have any questions regarding the content of these reports, please speak to your child's key worker who will be happy to talk things through with you.

We look forward to welcoming you to Kids and Co. soon!
